This piece was inspired by Renè Lalique’s work. I’ve always loved swans, especially the way they move, and have taken many trips to visit the swans that live at Lake Laverne on Iowa State’s campus. This was my first experiment with filigree, which is decorative patterning of fine wire, often twisted, that creates delicate openwork.
